Sunderland have announced their squad numbers for the upcoming Premier League season.
The list, which usually gives us a good indication of "who goes where" in the first team pecking order, sees number movements for Dean Whitehead (8 to 6), Anthony Stokes (9 to 44, a sure-fire hint that he's not in Roy Keane's immediate plans) and Daryl Murphy (11 to 14). New signings Teemu Tainio (4), Steed Malbranque (8) and El Hadji Diouf (11) all make it into Keano's "first XI" while youngsters such as Conor Hourihane and Jordan Henderson also get numbers. For the record, Sunderland currently do not have a number 3 or a number 9, giving more hints that Roy Keane is looking to sign a new left back and a striker. 1 - Craig Gordon 2 - Phil Bardsley 3 - vacant 4 - Teemu Tainio 5 - Nyron Nosworthy 6 - Dean Whitehead 7 - Carlos Edwards 8 - Steed Malbranque 9 - vacant 10 - Kieran Richardson 11 - El Hadji Diouf 12 - Liam Miller 13 - Darren Ward 14 - Daryl Murphy 15 - Danny Collins 16 - Michael Chopra 17 - Kenwyne Jones 18 - Grant Leadbitter 19 - Dwight Yorke 20 - Andy Reid 21 - Pascal Chimbonda 22 - Danny Higginbotham 23 - Roy O'Donovan 24 - Trevor Carson 25 - Jean-Yves M'voto 26 - Dickson Etuhu 27 - Russell Anderson 28 - Graham Kavanagh 29 - Peter Hartley 30 - Paul McShane 31 - David Connolly 32 - Marton Fulop 33 - Michael Liddle 34 - Jack Colback 35 - Michael Kay 36 - Nathan Luscombe 37 - Robbie Weir 38 - Jamie Chandler 39 - Martyn Waghorn 40 - David Dowson 41 - David Meyler 42 - Jordan Henderson 43 - Conor Hourihane 44 - Anthony Stokes 45 - Rade Prica 46 - Nick Colgan
