Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that Jonny Evans will not be prosecuted over the incident at Manchester United's Christmas party.

Evans was arrested late last year over claims that he had raped a 26 year old woman during the party at the Great John Street Hotel in Manchester, but the Crown Prosecution Service has decided not to take the case any further.

A police spokesman said: "The CPS has now taken the decision to take no further action against the man arrested following an incident at a city centre hotel on Tuesday December 18 2007."
